Diabetes Wellness Connection

La Plaza Telecommunity Foundation's "Diabetes Wellness Connection" Web site provides health information related to diabetes for tri-cultural (Hispanic, Native American, and Anglo) residents of Taos County, New Mexico.  Funded by the Department of Commerce, Telecommunications and Information Infrastructure Assistance Program (TIIAP), the web site provides information for both health care providers and consumers based on a diabetes information needs assessment conducted among potential users in 1995.  The web site provides factual local, regional, and national information related to diabetes, as well as personal stories related to "Living Well with Diabetes" currently provided by residents of Taos county.  Bilingual information is provided in the photo novella, "Meet the Montoya's" and diabetes information specific to Native American Project.  the web site was developed for both PC and Macintosh based platforms and can be viewed with most graphical web browsers.   In conjunction with the web site, La Plaza Telecommunity provides:

1. Internet access for residents of Taos County
2. public access computers at community sites and three rural clinics in Taos County
3. free classes in Internet/WWW, email, and web page development.
